Countertops Case Reaches Ninth Nap Court

The central question: if food appears on a surface, can the surface truly be private.

The Ninth Nap Court heard arguments Tuesday in a landmark case over whether kitchen counters qualify as public land once a sandwich has been assembled there. Counsel for the humans described the counter as a food-safe preparation surface. The feline bench immediately requested clarification on whether "food-safe" means safe for food or safe from food.

Justice Clawdia pressed both sides on precedent, citing the 2024 Butter Dish Matter and last winter’s unsolved rotisserie incident. A ruling is expected after the court completes its afternoon recess, evening recess, and any recess created by a blanket being folded nearby.
